Thank you for buying the ZAJO product. Before using the product, read, please, this booklet. You find information here, how to care the ZAJO products correctly. Our products are produced from branded, functional and modern materials requiring special care. However, do not be afraid, the care is easy. It is enough to meet some basic rules only. When following them, your products will serve you for a long time and just functionally.
- Before starting to use your product, wash it. So the product will be relieved from the finish and eventual impurities which could adhered to the product during the production or storage.
- Follow the textile care symbols stated on the product label at all times.
- Remove all things, which may damage the material mechanically, when washing in the washing machine. Pay attention to forgotten things in your clothing pockets or other products washed simultaneously. Do up all zips, fasten all buttons, hooks and Velcro fasteners which may damage fine materials.
- Wash, dry and iron the products with the inner side up.
- Wash the product with clothing kinds of the same character and shadow from other textiles separately.
- Follow recommended washing temperature which is 30°C prevailingly. Do not rely on your subjective feeling.
- The most products from functional materials are not to be ironed because the synthetic materials are not very creasy. If you decide to iron the product, do not exceed the temperature stated on the product label!
- Use liquid laundry agents to wash the functional materials. Ideal laundry detergents are those determined for this purpose especially.
- Do not add any additional agents such as bleaches, water softeners or fabric conditioners when washing the functional materials. Bleaches and water softeners may cause a colour shadow change or they may destroy the product yet. The fabric conditioners create a film on the fabric surface which deprives the fabric of its functional properties. As for the fabric mambrane, the pores are clogged whereby its breathability is reduced or eliminated eventually. It is possible that the fabric membrane will be destroyed after this manner.
- When washing, it is necessary to rinse the clothing thoroughly to remove all residues and impurities.
- Do not leave the products in the washing machine after washing finish, but it is necessary to remove und start to dry them.
- Do not use the direct sunlight, heating bodies or any other heating elements to dry the products. It may cause not only a colour shadow change, but also durable damage of their functional properties.
- Do not leave wet or contaminated product which is tagged together, in a backpack or on any other place uselessly.
- Avoid long exposition of the membrane products to direct sunlight and high temperatures.
- It is ideal to clean and to hang the membrane product, which is not intended to be used for a long time, on a dark place, e. g. in a closet or wardrobe. If the products must be stored so that it is tagged together, pay attention that the product shall not be exposed to high pressure, e. g. by a clothing layer put on it.
- Do not apply the deodorants, perfumes and other cosmetics to the product directly.
In spite of the fact that the products are furnished with anti-pilling treatment, which reduced the clip inclination to pilling only, some pilling is occurred as a consequence of mechanical stress of products. The pilling is a natural property of clip and is compensated by functionality and comfort. This statement is guaranteed by the producer of this material. This visual issue has no influence to functionality of products and may not be a complaint subject matter.
Cotton products may be washed with standard washing programmes at higher centrifuging speed, white products at the temperature of 60°C, coloured ones at the temperature of 40°C and white ones at the temperature of 30°C. Attention, when washing the products, follow the textile care symbols stated on the product label. If your product has e. g. a cloth printing, high temperature might destroy it and so these products may be washed at the temperature of 30°C only. Products with printing or other applied ornaments shall be washed with inner side up, to prevent from their damages. T-shirts with printings shall not be dried in a dryer because the printing might be cracked. When ironing, the iron shall never touch the printing.
Wash jeans goods separately, during first washing cycles the jeans products may give off their colour, the colour stability will be fixated after some washing cycles. Make certain that the laundry agent using by you consists of no bleaches.
(3XDRY, DryPro, Cordura, Schoeller Keprotec, Schoeller Dynatec, Outdare)
Polyamide fibres may be washed in automatic washing machine with the scrimping programme at the temperatures of 30-40°C using usual washing agents too. When washing, the washing machine drum shall not be filled completely to prevent from excessive crumpling of the synthetic fibres. Avoid too intensive squeezing to preserve functional properties of fibres. Polyamide products may be dried in a dryer at low temperatures, it is recommended to use special programme determined for sport clothing. If unavoidable, iron the product at the lowest possible temperature.
When washing fine functional clothes, the washing machine drum shall not be filled completely, to prevent from excessive crumpling of fine clothing. If washing manually, avoid excessive squeezing, rotation and twisting of material from the same reason. To preserve the functional properties of fibres, use never any fabric conditioner!
If during the product use extreme sweating through is occurred, it is recommended to rinse the product in tepid water preventing from damage by long-term effect of aggressive sweat. The functional clothing may be fabricated from various fibres or fibre mixtures, and so follow the textile care symbols stated on the product labels. Below, the main principles of care are specified depending on the chemical composition of the fibres:
Polypropylene has the lowest suction capacity of all functional fibres and so the no impurities are adhered to them, it may be washed even in cold water with satisfying results. It is been dried easily and quickly. The fibres are resistant against bacteria and fungi, they are firm but sensitive to high temperatures. So they are to be washed in automatic washing machines at the temperature of maximum 30-40°C. The clothing shall not be dried in a dryer and ironed to prevent from irreparable fibre damage. Wash the clothing with inner side up to prevent fine fibre damage.
(Coolmax, Polartec Power Dry)
Polyester clothing may be washed manually or in washing machine with the scrimping programme at the temperatures of 30-40°C using usual laundry agents. Polyester fibres are more resistant against higher temperatures than the Polypropylene and so the clothing may be dried in a dryer at low temperatures, carefully ironed at the lowest temperatures, however, clothing steaming only will be ideal.
Wash new clothes before first wearing to wash out extra dye that can be transferred to your skin or other garments. Merino wool clothing doesn’t need to be washed as often as clothes made from other fibers. The best way to maintain your merino wool products is by exposure to fresh air. The best care way is hand wash in a basin with warm water and soap but do not allow to soak for too long to avoid shrinkage. In case of machine wash setup on a low to medium heat (30 degrees) on a cold cycle or use a wool wash/delicate option if available. Don’t not use fabric softeners because these will coat the merino fibres limiting the wool’s natural ability to actively managing your moisture and body temperature. Merino wool is generally very susceptible to mechanical damage, so do not wash them with clothing that has zippers, buckles, Velcro and is recommended to put your clothes to the textile bag. Be careful when wearing sharp edges with merino wool. Sharp edges pulling the yarns in the clothes and lead to holes so it is better to be careful. Merino wool is particularly susceptible to yellowing if exposed to sunlight.
Thermo-insulating layer, fleece materials
(Polartec Thermal pro, Polartec Power Stretch, Polartec Wind Pro, Polartec Classic Micro, ZeroTherm )
The fleece materials may be washed in washing machine with the programme for synthetic fibres at the temperatures of 30-40°C according to textile care symbols stated on the product label. These products may be washed by usual liquid laundry agents. Solid laundry agent use is not recommended. The washing agent shall not consist of bleaches and brightening agents. Water softeners and fabric conditions are not to be used. The washing machine drum shall not be filled completely, between the clothing in the drum and the drum top, a gap of minimum 10 – 15 mm shall be remained so that enough space for clothing movement to prevent from clothing crumpling will be available. If not special application is located on the fleece, it is possible to dry the products in a dryer at low temperatures, select the programme “sport clothing”. The fleece products with threads are not to be ironed not even at low temperatures prevailingly because the thread will be “slack” and so the material loses its insulation properties. If you are sure that your product has to be ironed inevitably, use either vertical steam iron or classical steam iron with suitable steam pressure. Put a cotton textile between the iron and the product. The iron put on the surface of the cotton textile slightly do not generate a pressure and steam the product only. Pressure and temperature of the steam assure the product ironing.
Products with feather filling
Products filled with feathers are to be separately washed in automatic washing machine with special scrimping programme determined for these products. The washing machine drum shall be filled by the middle of drum, do not fill completely. When washing, it is suitable to use liquid laundry agents determined for feather washing and usual liquid laundry agent prospectively. Avoid adding of the fabric conditioner into the washing machine. It is ideal to dry the feather products in a dryer with special programme for feather drying. Add some clean tennis balls into the drum. The tennis balls shake the feathers and help to keep the equal product distribution. A product filled with feathers may be dried freely. In this case, however the drying may take some days. Put the product on an airer and shake it regularly to distribute the product equally and to dry it thoroughly. Wet feathers may be broken and enmeshed into fluffs very easily reducing its insulation properties markedly. Before putting it into a wardrobe, convince yourself that the product is dry thoroughly. Avoid storage of feather products in compression bags or otherwise pressed. It is ideal to store them hung on clothes-rack.
Products with synthetic filling
Synthetic fillings endure washing in washing machines and drying in dryers well and so follow the instruction for care of the given surface materials. Before putting the product with synthetic filling into a wardrobe, convince yourself that the filling is thoroughly dry. Do it not only after washing and drying, but also after wearing. Do not forget that the product may be moist because of vapours produced by body during sport activities. Avoid storage of products in compression bags or otherwise pressed. It is ideal to store them hung on clothes-rack.
(Venturex, Pontetorto No Wind, Polartec Power Shield, 360_Vertigo, Sympatex, eVent, Dermizax)
All membrane products shall be washed in automatic washing machine with scrimping programme determined for synthetic at the temperature of 30° C. It is recommended to use special liquid laundry agents which are more soluble than classical ones. Classical liquid laundry agents may clog the mambrane pores and so to reduce the breathability of the membrane. When washing in washing machine, select one or two additional rinsing cycles to remove laundry agent remainders from the product thoroughly.
Very contaminated clothing parts shall be soaked with water and washed with washing or coco soap manually. When washing manually, avoid strong mechanical rubbing. The clothing shall be pressed softly and then rinsed thoroughly. Avoid manual squeezing and removing the water by twisting the clothing because it might damage the membrane. After washing, let the water drain away from the hung clothing and dry at room temperature.
When cleaning professionally, require rinsing of product in clean distilled solvent and spraying of impregnation.
Impregnation (restoration of water repellent properties)
Even though all of our membrane clothing is provided with durable water repellent (DWR) treatment of the surface, it may be aggravated as a consequence of mechanical use, chemical influences and temperature changes over time. The life time of the water repellent treatment depends on care of clothing and use demands. Attention, do not confuse the water repellent with water-resistant properties. Reduced water repellent ability is manifested by reduction of drop creation when raining and the water starts to soak into the textile surface. Clothing soaked with water became heavier and closing of water film causes reduction of breathability. So it is rewired to renew the water repellent property after certain time of use and washing of the product by suitable impregnation. It is recommended to apply the impregnation by spraying onto the textile surface after washing the product. Suitable impregnation agents may be purchased in outdoor-shops.
When inflating an mattress, do not use any inflation pumps, pumps, etc. Avoid leaving an inflated mattress (with closed valve) in a tent, car or direct sunlight during hot days. Protect it from open flame, sparks, hot heating body, lamp or any other heat source. Moreover, protect the mattress surface from strongly chlorinated water e.g. swimming pool water. Select suitable place to locate and use the mattress and prevent from puncture or damage. Take care of sharp stones, gravel, limbs, pinnacles, dry grass and other sharp objects. Upon an mattress puncture, use enclosed glue and patches according to the manual. Mattress shall be stored in expanded state (best possible flat) with open valve. So the foam filling preserves its extensibility, collected moisture may escape and the non-permeable layer shall not be damaged by moisture, mildew or other microorganisms. Avoid the mattress storage on wet and humid place (relative humidity up to 60 %) at the temperature of 0° C up to +40° C. Make sure of that the mattress is dry before storing. Clean with soft detergents on soap basis, tepid water and soft swab or rag. The valve shall be closes to prevent from water penetration inside. Dry the mattress in extended state with open valve on air. In no case, dry it on direct sunlight or heat source.
Only dry gaiters may be stored. Moisture supports mildew origin, which may damage and weaken the material fibres. The gaiters shall be stored out of high temperatures, oxidation agents, bleaches and direct sunlight. If the gaiters are really dirty, wash them manually using the liquid soap and tepid water, rinse thoroughly and let them dry on the air. Wash never in washing machine and dry never in dryer!
Telescopic poles are not very maintenance-demanding. The poles endure much when buckling, but they are not to be used as a lever. Otherwise they may be bent or broken very easily. This can be happened if the pole runs into a hole or gap. So it is required to provide the poles with rings in the summer season.
The greatest danger for the poles is to tag them together when not using for longer time. So the Dural oxidation (white powder) occurs between two tubes. It may become, that the poles shall not be extruded and ugly stains and crusts appear on the surface. Therefore, the best prevention is drying the poles. After a tour, mainly rainy one, swab the poles to be dry.
After use, only dry backpack may be stored. Moisture supports mildew origin, which may damage and weaken the material fibres. The backpack should be stored out of high temperatures, oxidation agents, bleaches and direct sunlight. If the luggage is really dirty, wash it manually using the liquid soap and tepid water, rinse thoroughly and let it dry on the air. Wash never in washing machine and dry never in dryer!
After each use it is necessary to clean and dry a tent before storing. A tent shall be cleaned manually with tepid water and swab. Otherwise the protection paint may be deteriorated. Tent life time may be prolonged by regular treatment with preparations determined to this purpose.
Before setup a tent:
- Select surface free of stones, limbs and other hart and sharp subjects.
- Avoid tent setup below trees.
- Avoid the tent entry against the wind direction in windy conditions.
