Polygiene StayFresh™ is a special material treatment that contains silver chloride, a form of salt with antimicrobial properties. This treatment is applied at the very end of the production of the materials and, as proven not only by laboratory tests but also by many years of experience with this treatment, it can very effectively eliminate the odor otherwise caused by the proliferation and accumulation of bacteria in the fabric.
Polygiene StayFresh™ technology is active only on the textile itself and is applied in the final stages of production together with other textile treatments, thus reducing the amount of energy and water required, concerning the environment.
How does Polygiene StayFresh™ work?
When we are active, our body sweats. Sweating is a natural process designed to cool our bodies and sweat itself does not smell.
However, when sweat mixes with the fabric, it creates a moist and warm environment that is ideal for the proliferation of bacteria, which is what causes the typical unpleasant smell. This then has a detrimental effect not only on our self-confidence but also on the very durability of the materials and therefore the clothes themselves.
Polygiene StayFresh™ technology prevents odor-causing bacteria and mold from multiplying. All thanks to the aforementioned silver chloride and its antimicrobial properties.
Material treatment with ecological character
At the same time, Polygiene is constantly developing several activities and works closely with material producers to ensure that their technology has as little impact on the environment as possible.
Polygiene is also a member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, an organization that brings together brands, retailers, manufacturers, governments, NGOs, and academic experts to reduce the environmental and social impacts of apparel and footwear production worldwide.
However, the technology itself and its functionality also have positive environmental impacts. Because Polygiene-treated clothing does not accumulate bacteria and mold, it does not need to be washed as often, saving water, energy, time, and money, with washing and drying alone, are thought to be responsible for up to 2/3 of the total environmental impact of a single item of clothing.
In addition, as the build-up of bacteria and mold hurts the overall longevity of the products, clothes treated with this technology last longer and therefore do not need to be replaced with a new piece as often.
